MAKABU AND NEFZI TOO STRONG FOR THEIR OPPONENTS

The mush awaited IBF Youth Cruiserweight Championship between the DRC boxing machine Ilunga Makabu and the Georgian piston mover Gogito Girgiladze ended prematurely after the Georgian failed to continue in round four (4).

The point of contention was the cruiserweight youth championship that was up for grab between these two gladiators. Boxing fans from all over Southern African countries were treated to the exciting tournament from round one which saw the two protagonists exchanging fires without fear!

Dubbed “Danger Zone” the fight progressed after the first round, Makabu seemed to have an upper hand over the Georgian with his ferocious hard punches that made Gogito to grimace every time they landed.

The rumble was promoted by the African major boxing promotion company the Golden Gloves of Rodney Berman who is credited for bringing the IBF to Africa in 1990 and was held at the Emperors Palace Hotel in Johannesburg, South Africa.

As champion Makabu was presented with the championship belt by the IBF Africa President Onesmo Ngowi of Tanzania, the whole boxing hall erupted in cheering for the champion.

On the North of Africa, Belgium based Ayoub Nefzi from Tunisia was too strong for the Ghanaian boxer Ishmael Tetteh in their contest for the IBF AMEPG Jr. Middleweight title in Tunis, Tunisia.

The duo met in the fight dubbed “The Beauty of Jasmine” the name use during the revolution that toppled former Tunisian strongman ben Ali last year!

Nefzi's win came as a gift for his next fight to be held in Belgium in March this year. He is to face a boxer to be name later for the IBF Intercontinental Jr. Middleweight title.

These two fights set up the IBF in the center stage in Africa as it scramble for the Africa growing lucrative boxing industry!
